For my 1,000th post I have to say something special and memorable:

You forgot to use your smart-ass font.

Also, if we're going to change the thread title can we please use the proper form of the verb: lay off, instead of the noun layoff. Thanks. It's one of my editing pet peeves. [crossthreading]

Since it doesn't look like it's going away any time soon ...

    "LAYoffs?. You're talking about LAYoffs?

  6. Sadly, this is kind of along the lines of what I was thinking.
    Man, that is sad.

And I hate -- absolutely HATE -- to come off sounding so flippant, because some of my friends are named a few pages back. But overwhelming hatred of Gannett management, and a supply of gallows humor, are all I have left.

How about SJ taking over the rumor mill since GB has taken a dirt nap? Come on people, spread the word.

Lot of managers at our shop taking their furloughs last week and next. Union members exempt from furloughs for now. Previously announced layoffs still in negotiating stage with union reps.

I wish Gannett would change its name. Whenever I see the word on here or anywhere, I want to puke. It makes me violently mad and ill. Do MEs and publishers at Gannett realize what a piece of shit company the world thinks it is???

Gannett is CNHI with a brain and a bigger wallet, which makes them that much more dangerous.
