Only $400 million? I'm sure some of the suits can win that - and more - in a few hours in Vegas!

    I don't know.

Speaking of unpaid, how's your furlough going? I'm already bored.

Pretty sure it wasn't unpaid. Of course, there's a lot of conspiracy theorists that believe the "back surgery" is a cover to get Dubow quietly out of the way.

Wasn't Dubow recruited to the post to enhance their video media companies?

Let's just hand over Gannett to a bunch of fifth-graders. They would have a better sense of logic than some of the people running the company right now. They'd be much cheaper, too. Pay them with recess, nap time and milk and cookies.

This man has a question for Gannett's execs.

Sometimes I go off on tangents.

Having just finished that article, I'm betting the "back surgery" is a way to quickly shove him out the door. He'll be quietly put aside and they'll bring in someone else to try to perform surgery and wring more blood out of the turnip to pay off Gannett's mountain of debt. I think this article just goes back to the stupidity of the people who run these places. They just figured the good times would last forever and never looked forward more than the next quarter. Now the chickens are coming home to roost and their just bailing water as fast as they can to make it to the next quarter.

In other Gannett news, the hammer started falling in Detroit last week. A bunch of the laid off were told Friday and then some more were told yesterday. And they used all of the 10 "exemptions" they were allowed in the last contract to bump people who normally wouldn't have been laid off because of seniority. In the art department of only about 7 people, they bumped two artists and two guys who thought they would have been safe were laid off. And all this before they get the second-quarter figures...

One day, not so bad. Today I'm going to Lake Huron for a cookout. Saturday, to Pittsburgh for the weekend.

Apparently the Evil G instituted pay cuts at it's TV stations for anybody making more than 30K. Cuts range from 4-6%.
