But they posted a copy desk chief opening in Taunton today on jjobs.com, so who knows.

I worked with Tomase at the Eagle-Tribune before he moved on to the Herald. One hell of a guy and writer.

And I know Bigs from Revs coverage back in the day. The guy rocks.

  3. Has Gatehouse made any moves with the sports depts. in Brockton/Quincy/Taunton/Fall River? Any consolidation? Layoffs? They have quite a hold on SE Mass with NB S-T and Cape Cod Times standing solo.

New Bedford and Hyannis don't stand solo, they're both owned (for the moment) by Uncle Rupert, and I would imagine they'd be sold as a package deal. Maybe to GateHouse.

Brockton's union contract is pretty tight, from what I hear, and will not allow for much sharing of copy (though there is some) between the papers. The smart move would be to shut down Taunton and fold it into The Enterprise, but who knows if they'll let that happen.

  5. So everyone still has their jobs? I've seen a lot of ledger copy online at the Enterprise site. Not sure if it's making it to print as well?

Heard Fall River lost its SE?

Ledger only had five or six sports full-timers; the rest of their coverage comes from the co-ops (mostly Northeastern).

I don't know about budget cuts, as I haven't read either paper all that much recently.
