That is totally the way I saw it. It should have never been posted in the first place. The reason that editorial independence was compromised was because the his editorial judgment was shit. The major reason for editorial independence is so you don't have owners trying to give favorable editorial content away in return for advertising dollars. I understand that you want to separate business and content for other reasons, too, but that is the major reason for it, isn't it? In this case, was that in play? Don't you think he pulled the post down simply because he thought it was wrong to have gone there in the first place?

Craggs made a big mistake here, but I seriously doubt this is the end of his career or that he'll have to make a living as a freelance writer because nobody will hire him.

In fact, I think the opposite is true. File this under "no such thing as bad publicity" right next to McHenry, Britt.

My money says Craggs ends up rich in an even higher-profile gig.

The Medill grad who broke one of the cardinal rules of the profession and disgraced himself and his company- "Psst, let's give this guy anything he wants, boss."

Did anyone read the heartfelt goodbye one of his co-workers wrote the other day? Something about being absolutely heartbroken (or some other such overreaction) yet barely knowing him. Very strange, yet very predictable.

How much do you think Craggs was making at Gawker? I'd be surprised if it was more than the low low six figures ($100-125K).

I don't know who else would be interested in him now, and I don't think anyone else pays even that much for such positions.

A gay-shaming hit piece is a fitting hill for Craggs's editorial career to die on.
He'll be writing hipster douche brah pieces again soon, sure, but he won't be managing content.

Was that really good publicity for Britt? When it happened, my buddy said she definitely would be fired. I told him if she was a guy she probably would, but she would get some time off. She sounded like a condescending bitch, which is what she is known as to anyone who never heard of her before that video. She kept her job, but apologized (who knows if it is sincere) and has not seemed to be better off after that.

Nah, she's still reporting from NFL camps and Summer League basketball. Actually might have been seeing her less, though I might just not be watching as often.

She got suspended and kept her job. She would be reporting from NFL camps and Summer League basketball if she never got caught being a bitch. It remains to be seen, but don't think that will help her career. For Craggs, can't see what he did helping his career either.

I was agreeing with you. It sure didn't boost her profile, but I suppose folks who didn't know who she was might be aware now.
