Sorry, but zero chance, Lugz. Tommy has an instinct for self sabotage greater than anyone I've ever encountered in this business. Everyone agrees he is as smart as anyone working, but he's also determined to blow up his world right when things get complicated. He would never allow himself to be rich. It would betray his entire ethos.

I suspect Britt McHenry's clock has almost run out. ESPN decided it wasn't a fireable offense, but that doesn't mean they'll renew her contract. "Hot and dumb" is really, really easy to replace. There's no shortage of it out there.

And I agree with DD -- Craggs has done what he can to make himself virtually unemployable.

Jesus, is there anything the people at Gawker don't parade in public? I'd fire her ass for that, bullshit.

Did she think Denton would not have gotten the reference to "Gawker" if she didn't call it "your blog Gawker"?

Hey, anyone who can cram extra relevant information into 140 characters has my respect.

Doing what he did against the judgment of legal counsel and against all good sense (never mind decency) shows a deficit in intelligent functioning.
What we learned again was that Gawker's/Deadspin's smartest guys in the room aren't very smart at all.

Maybe you guys are right, but the cynic in me sees Craggs taking a turn at Grantland or something like it within the next decade.

Yes I'm aware of the history.

    People want edgy.

I seriously can't see that ever happening anytime soon -- the Grantland thing. Maybe in a decade, the way you said, if there is regime change at ESPN and the radioactivity wears off of Craggs. I know you know the history. But it's just over the top, isn't it?

Supposedly Bill Simmons hired Craggs when he was starting Grantland, and Craggs had accepted the offer and had a starting date. ... and then a week later, Craggs posted a Lynne Hoppes takedown on Deadspin, and ESPN pulled the offer. ... It was compounded when John Walsh set up a meeting with Craggs to discuss stuff and asked him not to tell anyone about it. ... and AJ Daulerio, who was then the EIC of Gawker, sent someone dressed in a pink gorilla costume and singing the Sportscenter theme to the meeting.

I just don't see ESPN jumping in after this guy anytime soon. But the timing would be right now, if they were going to get past that.

Holy shit, I thought that was a joke but I googled it just out of sheer curiosity and a little bit of insomnia and holy shit, it is real.
