Yep, I prefer things that can be actually proven

But things that can't be proven are so much more...flexible. :)

I'll take my chances with an ancient book than a combination thesis by JC and outofplace.

It can't be proven that there wasn't a "starting point to" existence, of earth or the galaxy, broadly speaking.

    Cause, effect.

Ancient just means that once the writers were done making things up, their work was then translated repeatedly, making it even less likely that G-d's word is properly represented, even if it was there in the first place.

The whole history of humans is savagery.

For over 1,700 years, Western civilization has been shaped by Judeo-Christian values and morality.

So, for someone born in the West in the 20th Century to act like his morality has been shaped irrespective of Judeo-Christian values is ignorant.

    1. Irrespective isn't a word.

    2. Post hoc, ergo, propter hoc.

    3. Despite Judeo-Christian values is probably more apt.

What have you got other than making fun of him for being a sock puppet?

Did Judeo-Christianity have a major influence on the development of Western Civilization? Absolutely. Has it always been a positive influence? That is much more open to debate.

Are you really trying to argue that there cannot be morality without Judeo-Christian faith? Because that is a gigantic load of horseshit if you are.

I'm saying that your morality was shaped by Judeo-Christian values. And "Marks". And Desk's.

    There's simply no denying it.

What, specifically, did Christianity introduce in the way of laws, morals or ethics that did not exist long before Christianity?

There are scads of great thinkers who contributed much to the study of ethics who were Christian, no doubt.

But I'm curious what you think is specific to Christianity that the Babylonians, Romans or Greeks didn't come up with first.

It's not necessarily what they came up with. It's that it's what's influenced Western society the most.
