That is a good part, but the ahistorical backpedaling is better, if'n you ask me.

The fact that perfectly good and workable moral and ethical systems happen without Christianity -- and, in fact, predate Christianity -- but that western-style democratic republics can't happen without the Greeks, well, seems apparent on its face.

But, apparently, now, the key to America's identity lies in pre-Colonial village life, and not in the Constiution or the founding documents.

History via mad-lib! Let's all play.

    Really? And Christianity is? Really?

Our laws don't reflect our values or morality, but a religion we don't all share does? This is your argument?

Tell me you have something better than that. Please.

Worth noting that the fact that we don't all share something in a democracy doesn't mean much -- majority rules.

Now Mark controls your posts? I see. Nice to say things but not take responsibility for them.

This society was also shaped by people who rejected faith, but believed in reason and justice. It wasn't just the Judeo-Christian ideology. Sure, those religions made up most of the population, so it has an influence. You are just overstating it.

Funny to see somebody from the right preaching about social justice in yet another thread where your side of the fence is arguing against equal rights for a segment of the population.

YGBFKM once again reminding us that he has no class by making fun of the religious practices of others.

It was third grade when we learned that America wasn't discovered by the pilgrims or by Columbus, but that the Vikings beat both of them, and found people already here when they did.

Despite your obvious fear of formal education, you could consider reading a history book. You'd look like less of a fool.

    Maybe.

Not in this country, not with regard to religion.
