    Re: Gene Upshaw dead?

she was taken to the emergency room with what they thought was a gall bladder infection after several days of increasing back pain and nausea, followed by jaundice. doctors at baylor hospital in dallas said nothing could be done. we basically forced her to go to mda where she underwent several weeks of chemo and radiation prior to surgery. they performed a surgery called the whipple procedure where they basically gutted her. she was on the operating table for more than 12 hours and spent another 6 weeks recovering. you'd never suspect today, at 75, that she ever went through such an ordeal except for the giant scar on her stomach that looks somewhat like a mercedes symbol.

NEVER JUST ACCEPT THE FIRST PROGNOSIS!

Wow. It's really great to hear about someone who defeated pancreatic cancer. Just to know it can be done.

    More often, there is.

Listen, we GET that pancreatic is especially virulent and fast-moving. Usually a matter of months, perhaps even weeks.

    But not dead-three-and-a-half-days-after-walking-out-of-a-doctor's-office-with-initial-diagnosis fast.

If there isn't more (a coincidental heart attack, something intentional...), I will be shocked.

Can we remove the question mark to this thread?

I put that suggestion to the moderators, but so far no luck.

We wouldn't have that problem if YOU were the moderator.

I can think of a bunch of people who would hate that. We'd have the long-gone questions about "hey, where'd such-and-such a post go?" twice a week. :D

(Admittedly, seeing some of those posts get wiped out might not be a bad thing.)
