Waiting for someone to rant about how the Barbie movie is propaganda against biological gender distinctions because, although on the surface the dolls hype up sexuality and stereotypical physical attraction, underneath it all thems turkeys ain’t got no giblets.

 

I think I respond this way every time you bring it up, but I still can't believe you went into Rubber thinking it would be okay.

 

I didn't think it was going to be an Academy Award winner or anything. I was expecting stupid fun. SyFy-level Sharknado cheese or something like that. In another post about it, I mentioned that was around the same time I watched Human Centipede, so I was anticipating production values along those lines.
What I didn't expect was for a movie about a sentient, psychotic killer tire to be one of the most pretentious pieces of indecipherable art house shit imaginable.

 

I thought Rubber was about a sentient, psychotic killer condom.

 

Bought tickets for me, my wife and son for Barbenheimer on Sunday.

In hearing that number, I thought, "Well, it probably hasn't opened wide internationally." But no - that's its worldwide gross, roughly 50/50 split. It only made $3M in China, and seems to be out of theaters already there.

 

There's a universe where an Oscar is up for grabs between Barbie and Super Mario Bros for Best Song and I hope it's this one to watch Ryan Gosling and Jack Black perform them live

About Barbie...Not gonna see it but I hope people who do enjoy it. Margot Robbie tends to pick interesting projects (WTF, I, Tonya) but this one is a no from me. Ryan Gosling does seem like the perfect choice for Ken. After all, he spent a decade being a live-action internet boyfriend for a generation.

You forgot "Lahf is lahk a bawks of chawklits..." Now I need to watch David S. Pumpkins and Doug on Black Jeopardy to get that out of my system.

That would have been a much better movie.

Maybe this should be on the confessions thread, but I’ve never seen Forest Gump. I’m not sitting through a four-hour movie on broadcast TV. I also don’t stream anything, so please pick up a little before you get off my lawn.
