Yeah, exactly. My wife works at a hedge fund and she loved it. It stayed outta the weeds, same as The Big Short did on screen. BTW, she worked at Front Point, the shop highlighted and where Steve Carrell's character worked. When I was working at JPMorgan, they were filming on Park Ave. Coincidentally, a buddy in New Jersey told me they filmed most of Dumb Money in his town, Boonton.

This looks pretty bad despite Emily Blunt.

The director has made some fun movies (I particularly liked Bullet Train) as has the screenwriter (MI: Rogue Nation, Hotel Artemis), but I dunno about this.

    Ken as a stuntman.

Obvious fail with the theme song.

    Emily Blunt looks fabulous.

    Sequels built in.

Gonna be a good watch in a bad way.

I thought it was a joke when I first saw that Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan are rebooting The Karate Kid together. But it’s not (apparently):

Poor Hilary Swank, just forgotten in the Karate Kid franchise.

I’m still betting Swank will show up in the last season of Cobra Kai.

A director's cut of "Blood Simple", the first Coen Brothers film, is out in the theaters. It won't be crowded, the movie is very good, and M. Emmett Walsh's villain playing with and against Frances McDormand and Dan Hedaya is an amazing performance. I'm going to hit it sometime over the weekend. Saw it when it came out and loved it.

Great flick. Eerily perfect main musical theme.

It's been a long time since I've seen it. Slow burning noir that blows up at the end. It was a great first film, impressed the hell out of me.

It looks like a silk purse movie to me. (You know, as in silk purse from a sow's ear?) It also makes an unintentional commentary about Gosling's career over the past few years. He's taken on some thankless roles. As silly as it scans, it looks like they had fun making this one. I'll catch it when it streams.

She probably breathes a quick thank you to the cosmos for that.

Was thinking about doing a week of Coen Bros films sometime soon. Blood Simple was top of my list. I still have a copy.
