Two things: I had to go to Youtube to watch Idina/Chenoweth perform "Defying Gravity." Wow. Plus, was struck by how much Menzel and Lea Michelle look alike - even down to stange (but cute) mouth movements while singing.

Other thing is about the wheelchair performance. I kept thinking, to anyone who didn't know one member was permanently in a wheelchair, that performance could be a bit off-putting. Buncha kids rolling around in chairs singing "Proud Mary"? Minor, I agree, but it just felt weird.

One of the things I enjoy about the show is that the flaws or insecurities of the characters are so over the top and obvious, - vanity, bitchiness, insecurity, sexuality, disability, pregnancy, nose, weight, race, family situation - that they've become the "verb" of the show instead of the "subject" if that makes any sense. They use them to make a larger point than "it sucks to be...."
This show seems to spoof a different ABC afterschool special every week.

Yeah, it was dusty in here during both of those scenes.

After mentioning those old ABC afterschool specials in an earlier post I googled them - the titles alone are priceless and obviously an influence on Ryan Murphy's vision for the show. Drugs, divorce, sex, teenage pregnancy, disabilities, parental illness, bullies.

    Ya, that was hilarious.

It was obvious where the Sue stuff was going, but it was still a nice touch.

I know they'd really like Idina to make an appearance (maybe as Rachel's birth mother) but it would be a kick to get the two of them in the same show. Chenoweth is definitely returning for another episode, something I cannot wait for.

Glee is trying to make me cry. Also, Quinn's dad is a royal douchebag. (It doesn't help that he played Mitchum Huntzberger on Gilmore Girls, and therefore I already LOATHED HIM WITH THE FIERY PASSION OF A THOUSAND SUNS. Nooooo now he has to go and say all of that. Quinn's not my favorite character on the show but if my dad ever looked me in the face and called me a disappointment and kicked me out of his house, I would have layed down on the floor and bawled for days. DAYS.)

Finn's mom is also all sorts of levels of awesome. And that final song?? Yeah, I cried again.

While Quinn's dad was an absolute asshole, I completely expected him to act that way. They were setting it up that way the whole episode with the scenes with Finn's mom and Quinn's parents. The scene with Quinn, Finn and her parents was one of the better acted scenes in the season so far.

And yeah, the last song was awesome.

I was really disappointed, though, that Mr. Schuster kept Rachel from singing Elton John's "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word. That's one of my favorite songs by him, and she would have rocked it.

I kept laughing at Kurt's continuing (though subtle) suggestions to Finn to "give up women." Hilarious.

I was disappointed in the "Don't Stand So Close to Me" cover - from the commercials, it looked like it was going to be seven kinds of awesome, but it was just okay IMHO. Though, I did enjoy that Pillsbury was getting all goo-goo eyed.

Let's see. What else? Oh yeah - it wasn't until the preview of next week's ep that I realized that this was a Sue Sylvester-free episode. What's up wit dat?
