My first thought when she said he was a failed president was that "he had the backbone of a chocolate eclair," as Roosevelt said about him.

Man, that part made me laugh out loud. Outside of Brittney, who only has like two lines per show, Sylvester is the most consistently amusing to me.

Agreed. I watched the first season of Nip/Tuck, which was entertaining. Stopped watching during the second. By the third/fourth season they had a love triangle featuring a midget, I believe.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and expect more for this series, especially because of the other people involved in the show.

  5. Me and the Mrs. missed out on the first season of Nip/Tuck, but really got into the show during "the season of the carver". Then it got to the point where we didn;t even want to watch it when it was piling up episodes on the DVR. Just really lost a lot of steam.

This episode might have been my favorite episode of TV EVAR. Loved every bit of it.

Brittney: "If that were true, then Santana and I are dating."

Or something like that. It was awesome. Loved how they tied the whole season together into "My Life Would Suck Without You" with all the dance moves.

Take away my Gleek card - I didn't realize that they were incorporating all the dance moves from the season so far into "My Life Would Suck."

And, is it just me? I don't get the fascination/fandom of the song Mercedes sang. Sure, she belted the hell out of it, but that tune seems to keep popping up all over the place... and I'm just not a fan of it.

I'm glad you picked up on that, because I didn't the first time -- wife had to point it out. That's why you marry someone smarter than you, I suppose. Upon second viewing, it was perfect.

I think what I love about this show, perhaps as much as anything, is that there is a 14-year-old girl out there watching who knows Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, etc., but she's probably never been to a Broadway show, and has never heard a single Barbara Streisand song in her life, and here you have Lea Michelle belting out a phenomenal rendition of "Don't Rain On My Parade" and it's exposing kids like that to a whole different world of wonderful music. Maybe that's just the Broadway nerd in me's wishful thinking, but I just love how we now have a smart high school series that can incorporate "Ride Wit Me" and "Defining Gravity" and "Maybe This Time" into the plot and make it all work.

It's not a perfect show, but it's a great show. I love The Wire, but I don't need every show to be Shakespeare.

Most underrated moment of the fall finale: The assistant Ohio comptroller who hates everything.

Agreed with everything you said. I love the mixture of music they have (don't forget about all of the classic rock numbers they did. Any show that does Queen gets an A in my book).

Oh, and I want to be a state-paid cynic. I mean, I'm already a cynic but I want to get paid for it!

    Agreed.

In that way, it's a lot like Family Guy.

Seriously. MacFarlane finds an excuse to incorporate movie musicals into episodes as much as he can. He loves the stuff, and says his favorite movie of all time is Sound of Music. Which means you get incidents like me showing the "Shipoopi" sequence from Music Man or certain scenes from The Sound of Music to my nephews. And they respond, "Peter Griffin's was better."

    Small steps. Small steps.

Finally caught it online - Fox easily has the best episode playback on the web, minimal, if any buffering.
Figure I might spend some time over the next few months rewatching the episodes.
Glad they wrapped up the pregger/Emma/Teri storylines. I'm hoping Sue Sylvester falls in love in Boca, maybe Murphy can bring in Oliver Platt playing the same character he did in Nip/Tuck.
