They probably didn't lose hardly anything, if anything, but let's give the billionaires a few more million, just in case.

Starman thinks the Cincinnati Red Stockings made billions in 1869 instead of a profit of $1.39.

This one book claims the Red Stockings only made $1.26.

See, they were cooking the books even back then!

Glendale votes to cover $25 million to keep the Coyotes in Glendale for one more year. Of course, there's a very good chance they'll be in this exact same situation next year. What a circus this has been.

What will be interesting is if rumors of the Thrashers going to Winnipeg heat up.

Must be nice for municipalities to just look under the couch cushions and....oh look, there's $25 million!! Let's flush it down the toilet like we did before!!!

Man, the Coyotes fucked the taxpayers but good on that new deal. Every newspaper in every town that considers building an arena -- hellooooooo, Sacramento! -- should do a series on just how bad that deal has gone and just how screwed the city coffers are.

The deal with the NHL allows the league to renew the deal annually for up to 10 years. The Coyotes aren't going anywhere since the league would lose millions in the new TV deal if the team moved to Canada.

They would lose millions would they. How about the millions the owners pay to keep the franchise going each year. How many millions should the other owners keep paying?

Can't imagine they would really lose that much in TV revenue by losing the Phoenix market. Yeah, it's the 12th biggest market... but the NHL has a shitty TV deal anyway, and I suspect the Phoenix ratings are pretty damn poor. I bet the league is losing a lot more by propping up the team. Glendale paid $25 million to cover losses, but the league is on the hook for the rest, and the losses topped $37 million.
