This is a done deal. Look for an announcement Tuesday.

Looks like the Thrashers are moving: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/atlanta-thrashers-moving-to-winnipeg/article2029179/

Awesome. If they revert back to the Jets, they will be my favorite hockey team.

AJC looks like dogshit on this. Their latest story is saying no deal yet - based on listening to Bettman's show on XM today. Way to work the sources fellas.

To be fair, there's a lot of discussion here too. But if Stephen Brunt is reporting this I'd put some credence in it. Few sports guys I'd trust more than him.

Many sources are saying it's not official.

But Stephen Brunt broke this, and I trust him over anybody at the Journal-Constitution.

Winnipeg Sun reporting deal isn't done.

I can't vouch one way or another for Stephen Brunt.

I've been extremely unimpressed with the Globe & Mail's coverage of the Glendale end of this saga, which has for the most part been wildly inaccurate.

Having said that, I expect this deal to be done soon, if it isn't already.

As Bruce Arthur said, Brunt just does not guess.

If this sale is for real, it could be a huge blessing for Wild fans.

Tom Powers: Minnesota Wild could be heading back to 'Norris'

Back in my sports days, I wrote several columns taking the NHL to task for putting the Wild in the Northwest Division in the first place. One of the many dumbest things the NHL has done in the past 20 years.

I don't think the NHL really had a choice, unless they wanted to put Columbus in the Northwest. The options were pretty limited.

Cox will respond to this by cutting more jobs. It's what newspapers do.
(Yes, that's cold, callous, not accomplishing anything and sounds like a dig at everyone still in the industry. It's not ...)

Bubbler, might want to see if the organization has a housecleaning. If the Thrashers end up in Winnipeg, fan support will increase. But will the on-ice product be any better? They were absolute crap during their time in Atlanta ... and keep in mind that the team I support isn't a standard-bearer in that category.

Understood, Rosie. But geographically, it was the only thing that made much sense. Someone ended up on the short end of that deal.

I've heard that Winnipeg would stay in the Southeast Division for a season while the NHL finalized the division alignments. Columbus in the Southeast? Why not Nashville? Geographically, Preds make a lot of sense with Washington, Raleigh, Tampa and Sunrise. Is there something I'm missing here?
