Des Moines has a nice arena.

"Nice" arena? A lot of communities have "nice" arenas. I'm sure Markham's new arena will be nice, if built.

Didn't think the blue font was necessary there...

Wow. Is this being publicly funded? I thought the Canadian government, under Harper, put a stop to funding arenas and stadiums.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. That's the argument some people make regarding relocation of a sports franchise.

Relocating a team anywhere in the U.S. is not a viable option unless the new community can provide subsidies the Jamison group is seeking from Glendale.

The city and province are splitting the cost.

I think it's bullshit the League is using tonight's win-or-go-home Preds game as an excuse to announce the team -- partially owned by the Preds, of course -- will be staying in Arizona.

I'm still skeptical of all this Phoenix stuff. I've been reading that Jamison is still gathering up funding. Bottom line is, if the NHL was going to relocate the team, it sure as hell isn't announcing it while the Yotes are still alive.

If the NHL wanted to relocate the team, and had found someone to do it, it could have been done 2-3 years ago.

The question is: Is the grass greener anywhere else?

Unless it's the GTA or Quebec City, then no.

I'm guessing the NHL needs to cut its asking price for he Coyotes as the new Blues owner closes on his $130 million purchase of the 90 percent of the team he didn't own on Wednesdy.

Bettman announces tentative agreement with the Jamison group. With decent ownership, the finances will improve as the team has been on one-year broadcast deals with FOX Sports Arizona, plus if the team stays, sponsorship and season ticket numbers will increase.

It's up to Glendale, but the assumption is a $17 million-to-$20 million arena management fee will pass by a 4-3 city council vote.
