I think that's a bit of an over-reaction there, Chuck, especially since I think Boom was making a joke in reference to Sportsbruh's comment.

Besides, four white cornerbacks would be interesting. I don't think there have been four white cornerbacks in the entire league at one time in the last 10-15 years.

Honestly, who gives a damn on the player side anyway? Is black quarterbacks even an issue any more? It seems to me the real issue now in the NFL is the lack of minorities among head coaches, management and ownership.

Well, I disagree with your "white running backs" post. Again, whites didn't have to deal with racial segregation. It was looked down upon to have a black quarterback back then. Now, it's more equal but you can't say it's harder for a white guy to become a running back because most of the people in power(owners, coaches, etc.) in the NFL ARE white.

    You meant "isn't an issue?"

It doesn't seem to be with the characters in question.

It's the media - and of course, the Rev. Jackson.

To the people, they look at themselves as coaches.

It's not an over reaction because he has said many racist/prejudice things to me before on this board. He's an ignorant fool and he shouldn't be in this discussion.

Reality check: A team with white running backs don't exist because there are no worthy candidates.

I know someone who did a story on a 5A sprint relay team in Texas that was all-white. The story was on the novelty of it and how they'd been talked about at meets as the all-white relay team. What made the story even more compelling was that this relay team was very good...a state qualifier.

And of course, the racists comments came, like if there was an insuination that blacks were better sprinters.

Well, it's like looking at a handful of quarters amid a few pennies and saying "what's of value here?"

Just make sure you rip me when I make comments, not comments attributed to others.

    True.
Just like when Sylvester Croom became the first black head football coach in the SEC
    At my alma mater
He talked about it when asked, and waxed eloquently, and said he DID feel the specialness of the event.
But he soon tired of this talk and wanted to be looked at simply as a coach.
He basically said "Screw this talk, let's play some football"
The media wouldn't and won't let it go, though.
At some point, he could wind up being the first black football coach in the SEC to coach in the Atlanta title game.
Or the first black coach from the SEC to coach in a BCS game.
And he'd have to answer all the questions again.

My bad, Yawn. Meant to attribute that to Blitz. I'll edit it now.

The media keeps wanting to bring it up to make them feel better about their own guilt issues. Just as the incident on this site yesterday regarding football's miracle healing effect on New Orleans, and how it has really brought back communities like my friend's former area, Gentilly.

I think its time for 2 hispanic QB's. You would think the nations largest minority would be better represented in the NFL. I also think we need more players and coaches of Asian descent.

So you're saying that there aren't many black coaches because there are no worthy candidates?
