And you write about creationists with the same contempt that bigots talk about gays and blacks.

Rationalize it however you will, but using words like "crackpot" while trivializing a religion by comparing a supreme being to a "flying spaghetti monster" is just as closed-minded as denying a marriage to an interracial couple because you don't think the marriage will last.

Thanks for making it personal, by the way. That's awful grown-up of you.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is a supreme being.

Have you not been touched by His Noodly Appendage?

Do they teach logic in schools any more? This is like talking to a small child.

I don't care if you believe that God created the Heaven and Earth in six days and then She took off the seventh. Honestly, believe it all you want. Believe in God, Allah, Shiva, or Buddha--it makes no difference to me. Worship whoever you want in the manner you want. Go to church once a day, twice a week, once a year---I don't care.

But please don't expect me to take you seriously if you believe these religious beliefs have any scientific credibility or that they should be taught anywhere outside of a religious or philosophy class. Because if you do believe they have scientific credibility, you are indeed, a crackpot.

I don't know that there were threada bout either -- but if there was, I would have said this "that's bullshit and more evidence that the wussification of American is nearly complete."

However - those two owners are private enterprise, own their stadiums and can make the rules. I don't like the rules, I think they are bullshit.

This is a public university funded in large part with public money and that makes it much different. And while there is no right to hear the band play, there is a right for students to voice their opinion - and if this cowardly school president is going to cave in every time a group of students chants or says something that he deems to be offensive, well then, he is going to have to do a whole lot of cancelling....

I mean - if the black frat on campus is having a dance - will it be cancelled if students decide to stand out side and chant the south will rise again?

I think the precedent has been set - any time dickheads want to cancel something or get something stopped on that campus - just chant "the south will rise" and the wussification factor will kick in.

Like I said, Idiot America is now in charge of most of our universities.....

Your snide asides, well, aside, I understand your point. Whether I agree or disagree with your point is not the issue, but that point could easily be made without conveying the attitude of a self-righteous prick.

You are clearly not tolerant of other viewpoints, and there is irony in the situation.

What's the other viewpoint on this?

I tend to be intolerant of stupidity and people who think all opinions are created equal.

If you want to return to the Middle Ages, have a nice trip. Just don't drag the rest of us with you, OK?

"The South will rise again" when its supposedly educated members stop acting like spoiled douchebags.

Well there are two scientific sides to the debate and probably a few more if you really look at it.

I'm all for seperation of chruch and state but this is not an area where that necessarily applies because there are some historical texts in the old testament which have scientific evidence to back them up. As a historical book, the bible is actually a good resource - and even the most staunch God-hating academic pinheads wouldn't argue that point.

But this is not about creation versus evolution - we can argue that on another thread.

It is the idea that if people don't see the world through the same eyes as JR and the rest of the arrogant elitist pricks who have ruined this country - they are being intolerant....yet somehow JR, who readily admits his opinion is more valid than the opinion of others, IS being tolerant...

    That's hypocritical bullshit.
