    It cannot be done.

There is nothing anyone can say that will make you feel that way. Most people would say that it is impossible to say about anyone running for president. Some would say it's impossible to say that about anyone running for any position.

I offered my beliefs in long and short form over two threads. I'm done with the back and forth. All I'll say is I know her and I think she's ready.

By the way, my Democratic friend who works for her told me to tell you once again, don't underestimate this woman.

Palin is McCain's domestic policy. Drill for oil, so we have cheap gasoline. This is nonsensical, but people WANT to believe it, so it's popular.
The danger is, it's pretty hard to be an Alaska pol without some ties to big energy companies. They are not popular.

Here's a pretty level-headed column by John Ibbitson, Washington columnist for the Globe & Mail:

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20080830.CONVENTIONIBBITSON30/TPStory/TPComment/?query=

There is another calculation in the choice. As the Democrats demonstrated at their convention, they will be able to field a small army of surrogates for Mr. Obama during this election campaign.

Michelle Obama delivered a powerful, personal declaration of her devotion to her husband and his cause; Hillary Clinton successfully bridged the divide between her followers and Mr. Obama's; Bill Clinton offered a soaring affirmation of his support for a candidate he had every reason to resent, finally and fully healing the Clinton-Obama rift, at least in public; Joe Biden demonstrated his off-the-cuff ability to rouse lunch-bucket voters in support of his cerebral running mate.

All of them will now fan out across the country, appearing at campaign rallies, talking to the media, bolstering the central presidential campaign with a plethora of support campaigns. And there will be others, including Maya Soetoro-Ng, Mr. Obama's half-sister, who speaks fluent Spanish and is considered a key asset in wooing Hispanic voters, along with New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.

Mr. McCain, on the other hand, has almost no one to turn to, apart from Ms. Palin.

Mr. McCain's wife Cindy, although she will speak at next week's convention, has not demonstrated, thus far, a willingness or ability to campaign actively on her husband's behalf.

George W. Bush is, by common consent, a liability for Mr. McCain, with such low public approval numbers that the Arizona senator has taken pains to avoid being seen in the President's company. Vice-President Dick Cheney is, if possible, even less of an asset.

    Michael,

Your right she has ties to big oil. They are all in a knot. Big oil does not like her. She has done her best to dick them over at every turn. She is not in the pocket of big oil.

Palin doesn't believe global warming is man-made.

Um, Governor, you do realize that goes against the opinion of McCain, and damn near every credible scientist, right?

    Again, oops.

JR, that chap made a good point. That's why it's so odd McCain picked a surrogate he had never seen surrow.

There is plenty of credible scientist that feel that global warming is not man made. So really your statement is inaccurate.

Boom, I hate to break the news to you but Canada Free Press has no credibility--even on the internet tubes.

This site is a clearing house for every right wing whack job on the continent. They're slightly better than the tinfoil hat crowd but that's about it.

If you need some Canadian content on global warming, google "Dr. David Suzuki"
