A few minutes ago in PA, Palin again gave a shout out to Hillary, and the crowd booed.

Going to be a fun time watching the GOP convention and seeing the delegates react to all the Clinton stroking.

    What a country!

I've heard a lot of talk about the Palin choice energizing the base and making the convention exciting instead of being dreary, those are Fred Barnes words. Take away Obama's bounce and this race is close again. Were the conservatives dreary because McCain might win or they worried he was going to lose?

These are all negatives. It's admittedly biased editing on my part, but still...

I wonder if McCain really thinks the Palin pick will automatically bring a huge number of women to his side. It's easy for us to scoff, but I would guess any female votes they pick up will be gravy.

McCain likes to make a splash. He also wanted to play to the conservative base. While I think the pick is a reach considering he did not need to secure the conservative base, he did both here.

The more I think about it, the more I think that, no matter how many times she says "women are not finished yet!" and they give lip service to the possible history of a femal VP . . . . they are not fools. They have to know that any possible gains among women voters are quite negligible.

    Splash, conservative. That's it.

    From Slate today:

As one McCain aide put it: "We either get Hillary's voters and we win, or we don't. It's not a mystery."

Olympia Snow or Susan Collins of Maine wouldn't have been popular with the base, but he would have won with them.

And I think the pick of Palin is emblematic of how damaged the GOP brand is. I hope Palin remains in public life for the next 20 years and wouldn't mind to see the GOP rally around her leadership if they lose in November. But I doubt they will She increased taxes on gasoline companies, showed an unpredictable independent streak and was considered such a lightweight by the GOP, that before her pick they didn't even schedule her to speak at the convention, not in prime time, not at 2 p.m., not as the opening act.

If that aide is in the know . . . then McCain and his handlers are dumber than I thought.

If this stuff is true ...

Images of Sarah Palin and her family from the Winter of 2007-2008 suggest that Ms. Palin's daughter Bristol is the mother of the family's newborn boy, Trig.[97][98] Governor Palin also reportedly kept news of her pregnancy confidential until the eighth month and Bristol spent the last four months before Trig's birth at home due to mononucleosis.[99] Additionally, Ms. Palin apparently delivered the keynote address at the Republican Governor’s Energy Conference in Texas after Trig's water broke and flew home to Alaska without revealing her medical status before driving with her husband to the hospital where her new child Trig was delivered.

... wow. That's straight out of Desperate Housewives.
Of course, anyone can add anything to Wikipedia.

Don't be so sure about that. If Obama/Biden come off as condescending towards her, the Hillary supporters, after what happened to their candidate against Obama, could think "gee, here we go again," and vote for McCain out of spite. At the very least, they could stay home, which would have pretty much the same effect as voting for McCain.

I think this kind of rumor is the kind of crap we need less of in politics. Being a young grandma would only help Palin, not hurt her. I have noticed that the McCain-Palin ad that was on this screen yesterday has been replaced by a picture of McCain and has no mention of Palin, but does have Lieberman with his arm around him. Second thoughts?

On Election Day 1972 Joe Six Pack in Peoria, Ill., possibly knew that six burglars broke into the Wategate Hotel.

And that's about all he knew.
