The only pick that would've been worse was Lieberman.

    Yep.

Like Derek Harper against the Lakers in the 1984 Western semis.

Oh, I get you now. You were coming at it as a game-ender from the other way. You may be right.

Are you being funny or do you really feel that way?

I think it makes things interesting.

    How is it different?

Um, let me see, one is a pick to VP, a heartbeat away from being President of the United States.

The other is one sentence from a speech.

    Yeah, it's almost like a first-term senator getting a party's nomination.

I don't know why there's such a negative here. Palin has the greatest upside of ANY of the VP candidates on either side.

For god's sake, Biden has made public statements with racist undertones and has footage to his name of him speaking poorly of the very man he's running with. How could Palin really do anything worse than that?

She's a pro-life Catholic with the ability to pull Catholic dems who can't identify with either Obama or Biden.

For a lot of people who aren't necessarily well educated politically, it gives the illusion that McCain had the balls to pull the trigger on a woman VP and Obama didn't.

One thing's for sure, with the pick of Palin, the DNC may as well have not happened the last few days, because no one gives a shit anymore.

McCain's pick is going to make Obama painfully regret he didn't pick Clinton. And I like Biden.

Everybody was talking about Gerry Ferraro in 1984. That went well.

Game's not over but there's a plump woman warming backstage.

ALL people will think of is that she is ONE heartbeat away.

    One MCCAIN heartbeat.

If that smoldering, angry sonofagun makes it through the first term, I would be stunned.

    The bottom line is this:

For the all the hype and hoopla for the VP pick on both sides, the VP doesn't mean a damn thing in the end.

LBJ delivered Texas. That was it for the modern era.

But, hey, it's fun to banter back and forth.

Ridge delivers Pennsylvania, negating one of the major reasons Biden was picked.

I think Ridge would have been clearly the best choice.
