    Piper.

All of her kids are named after areas or cities in Alaska.

In what I'm sure will be an unsuccessful effort to avoid seeing it wrong 10,000 times between now and November: Down syndrome. Not Down's, or Downs. Down syndrome.

    Courtesy of CNN's Ticker:

The last major party VP nominee with less than two years of experience in statewide or federal office was Spiro Agnew in 1968. Agnew had been elected as Maryland's governor in 1966 and inaugurated on Jan. 25, 1967; Richard Nixon chose him to be his running mate in August, 1968.

You know, I hear that went pretty well.

Unless Palin absolutely shines during debates and interviews, I think the pick only hurts McCain. For every woman he's getting to vote for him now instead of Obama, two people are going to vote for Obama because they see that McCain was pandering instead of "putting America first".

I look at the Vice President as someone who needs to be able to be the president if the president dies. At first glance, Palin seems laughably under-qualified. Perhaps she's as sharp as Obama, though having a minor in politics from the University of Idaho doesn't ring as sharply as being the editor of Harvard Law Review.

McCain didn't need to prove he was a maverick by picking somoene who I think has the potential to actually cost him the election.

I will say this after watching the presentation, it seemed very small time (especially in comparison to last night). The McCain camp should probably suggest an anchorwoman-type haircut and a couple lessons in gravitas. I like her, I really do,but there is something very Delta Burke about her. She's got some work to do in a short amount of time.

Her husband's a champion snowmobiler. Does this get McCain votes in Michigan? Colorado?

I thought Sarah Palin should have been nominated for a directing Oscar for her beautiful directing job of "Away From Her."
