    If the GOP truly believed it could win the election on "stay the course in Iraq," it would be Condi Rice for VP. If he'd only say yes, Colin Powell would be the pick most likely to pick off fence-sitters. But the governor of Alaska? Huh? Unless the GOP thinks the election hinges on the MILF lover vote.

    Dan,

    Huckabee was on Colbert yesterday saying that he was proud that America has reached the stage that Obama could even be nominated. He said there was no way he'd vote for the guy, but thought it was a huge step anyway.

    If it's Palin, then several people have lied to NBC. They've confirmed Palin is still in Alaska. It would not be possible, even if she left now, for her to get to Dayton in time for the event.

    It's like he came from a different genetic tree.

    He had four hurricanes hit here in 2004, and there was never a sense that the government wasn't immediately on top of it. Tremendous governor of a major, major purple state. Lots of viewpoints to have to be able to interface with.

    Plus, he speaks Spanish better than anyone else in his family speaks English.

    Most of the reasons he's so popular in Florida match with the reasons I could (for all practical purposes) never vote for the guy in a general.
