Re: GOP VP thread: So who will McCain name today?

and its been pointed out in the past in several news reports and blogs that I'm too lazy to find links for right now that most of the Hillary message boards were set up by Republicans, and are populated by Republicans, with the sole purpose of creating a wedge between Hillary's supporters and Obama.

    I totally believe that.

After all, they didn't vet Daddy Yankee (the Obama team did and rejected his endorsement before he went to McCain)

You're not really comparing Palin with Bush are you? Bush was groomed to be a politician from the day he was born. I'm pretty sure this woman wasn't. I don't think that's very fair to her.

Hey, we want change, right? What better way to change than let someone unconnected to Washington run it?

Hasn't been vetted properly? Currently under investigation by her own legislature? Mr. and Mrs. America, I give you the next Harriet Miers.

Mike Huckabee needs to get to the dry cleaner right now, so he has some suits and ties ready for the end of next week. And Tom Ridge. And Mitt Romney. Big week for dry cleaners.

Shrub at least was Governor of Texas for almost six years. That's a much bigger deal than being Governor of Alaska for 20 months.

You might be right. But all the talk from people who should have known earlier this week was that it was Pawlenty.

We might know for sure after the election.

Everyone on here knows I was a Lieberman guy.

But if no Joe, Sarah Palin was the one I really wanted. I would have been happy with Mitt, but you will all see many bogus attempts by Obama and Biden to knock this choice. Problem is, they are already off base on the release they sent out this morning.

This woman is more than a pretty face.

She is a strong woman. She is a REFORMER in the truest sense of the the word. She bitchslapped her own party on her way to winning and in taking over the governorship of Alaska. She took care of the Stevens types upon taking office. I think she will be McCain's voice on energy concerns. Despite what Obama will have you believe, she is NOT in the pocket of big oil. She again bitchslapped big oil and fellow Republicans over energy issues. She is a woman of the people.

She is a WOMAN who opposes abortion - no more of the "you're a man, you should have no say bullshit."

This is a beautiful person. A mother of five, celebrating 20 years with her husband today.

    She is an amazing person.

Now it all makes sense to me why my friend who works for her refused to answer my calls or e-mails over the last three days. By the way, that is a friend of mine, who I worked with in the newspaper business, who is a DEMOCRAT. A Democrat, who respects this woman because although she is a conservative, she is a public servant who doesn't play by party rules. She plays by the people's rules.

I can guarantee to all of you, if the Obama-Biden ticket takes her lightly, they will live to regret it.

The WSJ's timing might have been divine providence, but it does seem a little odd that they would pick her to be the first person they would profile in a startup publication.
So without seeing the magazine, I would agree with Alma up to a point. I think that the WSJ folks knew that she was on the short list.
E&P has a letter she wrote to an Anchorage paper complaining about an article. It was from 1993 and she was a newly elected alderwoman.

I think the WSJ knew there was a chance, that she was an option.

I figured Pawlenty after he dropped his "I've been commander-in-chief of the Minnesota National Guard" horsecrap early last week. But Pawlenty is also a smug prick. I could imagine McCain trying to kill him.

True, Alam. Two smug pricks on one ticket could have been volatile.

Little late to the party here...

McCain couldn't have picked Ridge or Guiliani. Both are too closely attached to Bush's attack on personal liberties. Lieberman might have worked, but no way he would have won a debate against Biden.

Palin? I would not want to be on the wrong side of her. She'd kick you where the sun don't shine without a second thought. And I did hear a touch of a canuckistani accent....
