No joke. And it's not even close. Alaska has the smallest population with the smallest simplest state government. Obama has been a U.S. Senator representing a state of over 12 million in Washington for nearly 4 years, Palin has only been Governor of a state with only around 600 thousand for less than 2 years.

Not to mention that Obama's early experience in Chicago politics and the Illinois Senate was immeasurably more fierce, competitive and complex than Palin's early experience as mayor of a tiny Alaskan town of 5000.

Palin's resume truly is unbelievable scant to be a VP choice. She might be an impressive person, but there's just nothing in her background to suggest she's prepared to take on Washington politics, a world in conflict, and the international media.

Of course that's the same thing I was thinking about Shrub's resume 8 years ago and look how well that turned out.

She is a strong woman. She is a REFORMER in the truest sense of the the word. She bitchslapped her own party on her way to winning and in taking over the governorship of Alaska. She took care of the Stevens types upon taking office. I think she will be McCain's voice on energy concerns. Despite what Obama will have you believe, she is NOT in the pocket of big oil. She again bitchslapped big oil and fellow Republicans over energy issues. She is a woman of the people.

This is a beautiful person. A mother of five, celebrating 20 years with her husband today.

She is an amazing person.

Now it all makes sense to me why my friend who works for her refused to answer my calls or e-mails over the last three days. By the way, that is a friend of mine, who I worked with in the newspaper business, who is a DEMOCRAT. A Democrat, who respects this woman because although she is a conservative, she is a public servant who doesn't play by party rules. She plays by the people's rules.

I can guarantee to all of you, if the Obama-Biden ticket takes her lightly, they will live to regret it.

Red, you're basically making the argument for a female Obama.

And that's the problem for McCain. If you talk about how amazing she is - and, hell, maybe so - you can't dismiss those who talk about Obama in the same tones as lightweight celebrity-lovers.

She is nothing like Obama either.

She is her own person. She puts Obama and Bush to shame. I am going to love the Obama camp trying to say she has no experience. This is going to be one of the greatest elections of our time. I cannot wait until she whips Biden - a man I openly admit to liking - all over the stage and you're all sitting there with your jaws on the floor going "who the hell is this lady?"

Palin might have a larger downside than the other candidates for GOP VP, but she also has a much larger upside. Hutchinson, Pawlenty, Ridge, Romney etc. had very little room to grow in impressing people since most have an opinion of them already. The greatest chance to pull in people they otherwise would not have is Palin.

America has almost gotten to the point where people want to hear something they've never heard regurgitated 50 times before regardless of how right it is.

I think the selection of Palin is something that offers little poll aid now, but will undoubtedly help in the future. She's a long haul benefit and not the immediate impact of a Ridge or Romney that would've died down by November.

Be it Alaska, Illinois, the moon or wherever, she has a history of getting things done. And that means more than anything else right now.
