She is a WOMAN who opposes abortion - no more of the "you're a man, you should have no say bullshit."

This is a beautiful person. A mother of five, celebrating 20 years with her husband today.

She is an amazing person.

Now it all makes sense to me why my friend who works for her refused to answer my calls or e-mails over the last three days. By the way, that is a friend of mine, who I worked with in the newspaper business, who is a DEMOCRAT. A Democrat, who respects this woman because although she is a conservative, she is a public servant who doesn't play by party rules. She plays by the people's rules.

I can guarantee to all of you, if the Obama-Biden ticket takes her lightly, they will live to regret it.

Red, you're basically making the argument for a female Obama.

And that's the problem for McCain. If you talk about how amazing she is - and, hell, maybe so - you can't dismiss those who talk about Obama in the same tones as lightweight celebrity-lovers.

Not exactly.

She does what her people want her to do and sometimes steps on GOP toes to get it done.

Obama says what his people want him to do, then votes however his party tells him regardless of how his people feel.

I hope the first question anyone asks her is, "Are you ready to be President?"

Can she reasonably answer yes?
If she can't, how the hell can anyone vote for a ticket that includes her? You can't discount the VP. That's the next prez.

(and the answer may be yes, I know nothing of this woman but suspect I'm about to hear a lot about her).

And if it were so important that she not have an abortion after she learned she was carrying a Down syndrome child, why is it now not important to be home with that 4-month old instead of out campaigning for vice president?

I will tell you exactly where he's going. Obama's been chipping away at the "maverick" image very effectively by linking McCain with Bush, and now McCain blunts that message to some small (great?) degree by picking Palin out of left field. McCain was always going to live or die based on whether the independents bought his maverickosity, and this is a way he can live.
