This is all I need to know about Mrs. Palin.

And if it were so important that she not have an abortion after she learned she was carrying a Down syndrome child, why is it now not important to be home with that 4-month old instead of out campaigning for vice president?

What are her views on Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur, Georgia, Russia and The EU? We know Obama's.

But does Palin have any worldly experience beyond the Alaska? That's what I'm curious about, because if anything happens to a 72-year-old president, I want to know she knows more than Alaskan politics.

As far as I can tell, Obama has world politics experience. Palin does not, so there's no comparison in "experience."

I would have made fun of Romney for his flip-flopping and his job-killing past. But I wouldn't have doubted his CIC potential.

Thinking of Palin as president makes me laugh. And then cry.

She made a conscious decision to have a special-needs child. It wasn't a surprise. And four months after that child is born, she's making a conscious decision to drastically reduce her role in his life. No one's saying she should have had the abortion. But if she's gonna act like a fucking superhero for deciding to raise the kid, maybe she should, you know, raise the kid.

First, he came pretty damn close to saying what you're saying no one is saying. many people will need help to raise a Downs baby. are you arguing that anyone who does has to put their professional life on hold? For how long? Should she have resigned as governor? Especially if her husband is at home, is it any of your business?

For the second, and I'm sure not the last, time, Down syndrome. Not Downs.

Many people may in fact need that help. But most of them would actually be involved. People make sacrifices when they make decisions like that, and even when they decide to have a kid period. A lot of people wouldn't go out and get a brand-new, 10-times-as-demanding job four months after having a kid of any type. She obviously isn't one of those people. That's fine, but I'm not sure it makes her a scion of (ETA: the rigid, one-size-fits-all Republican version of) family values.
