What does that even mean, really? Obama and McCain have a staff. I'm sure they've hired and probably fired people. Those are executive decisions, aren't they?

And remember: The only constitutionally prescribed duty of the vice president is legislative.

Not when McCain goes into full cardiac arrest.

Obama has a bit more time on the national scene. I'm more confident of his readiness than I am hers. I trust amraeder because he's closer than any of us. Down the road it sounds like she would be (though she'd still be a Republican). This isn't down the road.
This is NOW. Even at VP, she has to be ready NOW. No training wheels.

    It's a rhetorical question.

    Of course she isn't.

Maybe Palin will be incredible in a debate and prove to be a great campaigner. I know almost nothing about this woman at this point. But this selection fails the perception test big time and that matters. At the announcement today, it looked like McCain was standing next to his daughter, who sounds like an extra from "Fargo." That's going to be jarring for some people.

Yeah, but the big concern seems to be about what happens if she has to become president. I don't think anyone's worried that she's able to break a tie in the senate.

Would you say the same thing about Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius - an Obama running-mate finalist?

Again, just answering JR's question. I mean, it goes without saying that people running for office make decisions on how their campaign is going to be run every day, but people don't claim 'executive experience' on their resumes as a result.

This whole thing seems like a script that was rejected (or accepted?) for a West Wing story arc.

    Certainly.

I don't know as much about Kathleen as I do about Sarah. I'm trying to tell you I know Sarah and she is ready.

One other thing: A lot of women aren't going to be crazy about a younger, prettier, less qualified woman taking Hillary Clinton's supposed place in history.
