Exactly - any time the issue is raised about Pallin it raises the issue for Obama also .

Lets say Biden raises the issue in debate - all they need to do then is roll the clip of Biden saying that Obama is not ready to be President.

This pick is brilliant on so many levels.

We had a thread recently, started by Casty I think, that this whole scene was like the end of West Wing. Alda as McCain, Smits as Obama.
Who won that one? I can't remember.

Palin definitely qualifies as a Washington outsider ... plus a geographic outsider.

And the reverse is true. No longer can McCain say Obama isn't ready. Uh, and your VP is who again there old guy??

I REALLY wish this had come 4 years later. It pains me to hear the bashing on this thread because I really do respect this woman from the few interactions I've had.
Some of the posts have definitely rubbed me the wrong way, because this isn't some hillbilly with two brain cells.
But if the question is yes or no right now -- in the middle of a war -- then I can't see saying yes. She'd have to prove some sort of foreign policy credentials.

If you are on a first-name basis with both, I probably do need to pay attention to you.

    No way.

I know Obama isn't exactly Teddy Kennedy when it comes to experience, but he's got "it," if you know what I mean. I know it comes off elitist to tout his credentials, but my God. President of Harvard Law Review, two best-selling books, a wonk's wonk when it comes to policy (anyone who doesn't think this is true, check out his Web site). Obama spent 12 years at the University of Chicago talking with world-renowned conservative economists just so he could get a grasp of the power of free markets.

I wouldn't underestimate Sarah Palin's effect on this election, but it does frighten me to think of her running the country. It does.

Lousy example. Obviously Obama wasn't ready to run for president eight years ago, just like Palin might not be ready for something like the VP post now. Time and experience change things.

Eight years before he became president, George W. Bush was managing partner of a not very good baseball team.

Were you asking the same questions then?

Well, you won't hear any of that hillbilly shit from me. I'm sure she is brilliant (though way not a brilliant pick on so many levels) and I'm sure she is very good at her job and all that.

This isn't just any old job. This is VP, one heartbeat away, the VP for a very old president if the nation somehow elects McCain.

In four more years, my liberal donkey ass might think differently. I've never been closed minded and have voted Republican a time or two (damn it hurts to type that).

    Now?

    No way.
