  1. That women are monolithic on this issue is a myth -- at least speaking for the three women closest to me (mom, sis, gf).

Bill Clinton was elected governor TWICE and was also attorney general. Biden has 35 years of experience dealing with INTERNATIONAL ISSUES. Hillary has been elected Senator TWICE.
I'm not going to crap on the pick. It is what it is, and God knows Palin is more qualified than I am and I think the GOP should have run her for Senator this year and had her do the keynote address. She and Palenty are the future of the GOP - but it's just a little hard to accept that a campaign that aired an ad saying Obama was "dangerously inexperienced" and had "the architect" predict that Obama would make his veep choice for "political purposes" rather than "someone ready to lead" would choose Palin. An entire generation of the GOP was just given their buy-out offers. They are done. This is now the party of Palin and Palenty and the GOP will be better for it, just not this year.

And another thing, I like the Palin pick a lot more if McCain made it in July and give people more time to get to know her. Maybe even FORCE Obama to take HRC. Even if Obama picks Biden after that, Biden looks like the same old same old.

I agree with Spnited, though from a few pages back.

It is fun to rip her here, but the amount of people she brings over will probably be washed out the amount she drives away.

I wonder how big business feels about her if John goes down?

So let's say Mac has a few skeletons in the closet ...

    He's married to a powerful woman ...

Mrs. McCain: "You're putting a woman on the ticket."

    Mr. McCain: "Yes, dear."

AP's lead, by the way. Right down the middle as always. Damn libruhl media!

DAYTON, Ohio - John McCain picked Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a conservative who shares his maverick streak, as his vice presidential running mate today in a startling selection on the eve of the Republican National Convention.

That's true, but the overwhelming majority of pro-life women weren't gonna vote democrat anyways. A far greater percentage of women sitting on the fence are pro-choice.

  8. Shameless pandering? Really? Far as I could tell, Palin always has been mentioned as a possible VP.

If McCain had picked Lieberman, would that have been shamless pandering to Jews? Romney would have been shameless pandering to Mormons? Huckabee would have been shameless pandering to evangelicals?

And Obama has two young daughters. How does he parent properly as POTUS?

I was referring more to the fact that the current idiot-in-chief was a user of the same intoxicant. Granted, it doesn't speak highly of Obama, but to use that as a weapon is frightfully stupid. Last I checked, Obama hadn't been arrested for drinking and driving, either.
