He has acknowledged that he regrets not being there as much as he'd like for his daughters. However, Michelle Obama has said repeatedly, and backed it up with her actions, that she will campaign only when it fits into her parenting schedule. I'd imagine that will continue to be the case when he becomes president.

Their daughters are also older than Palin's son.

  2. Does the rest of the story back up the lead? (OK, I'll give you the "startling" part, but I'm from the I-hate-adjectives school of reporting.)

And to the best of my knowledge, Obama's daughters are not special needs.

Clinton campaigned for Arkansas's governor seven times and win six races in 1978, 1982, 84, 86, 88 and 90. The race he lost was in 1980. He ran for and won one attorney general campaign. Ran and lost one campaign for congress.

Palin's experience is laughable. More people live in my metro area than live in Alaska.
I wouldn't trust the county executive here to suddenly become the second most important person in the country.

  6. More so on your last point with Lieberman than with Romney.

Lieberman would have been fine with me, although I think his role in a McCain administration would be secretary of state. Romney doesn't make me do cartwheels. Huckabee would have made me sit out this vote.

    Why no. No it doesn't.

  8. More people live in your metro area than Delaware, too, I'll bet.

    My latest headline:

    Christmas Comes Early
    McCain Pick
    Gives Dems
    The Election

I suppose I could eat that come November. Oh well. Wouldn't be the first time.

Lieberman, Romney, and Huckaby all have experience and name-recognition levels that would make them seem like logical candidates even if they weren't a Jew, Mormon and evangelical.

But does anyone actually believe McCain would've chosen someone whose background basically just consisted of being Governor for only 20 months of our smallest-populated state and mayor of a small town if not a woman? Honestly?

From what I've read, Romney would likely have made a lot of the evangelicals sit it out due to his faith. But I think his influence in Michigan could have been useful.

Palin helps with evangelicals, immigration is kind of a non-issue for her I think, the war hawks will love her, but the big business types might start hedging their bets and figure they might be able to deal with Obama.

They might want to deep-six those "Country First" signs and ads for a couple of reasons.
