You conveniently left out the part about the medical bills.

No, it isn't selfish. Not if, like Palin, you already have four children and, unlike Palin, you are having difficulty feeding and clothing them. Should the other four have to eat less because a condom broke and now you have to go to all that expense to birth a child you're going to give away anyway?

I'm not out to convert you. And you're certainly not going to convert me.

Actually, Moddy, the strength of Obama's campaign was in the states that held caucuses but not open-poll voting. In the big states that had primary elections, Hillary pretty much trashed him. California, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio. Never mind Michigan and Florida, but she also won huge in those two states. In Texas, she won the popular vote but somehow Obama collected more delegates. He was weaker than her in all the big states that held primaries and stronger than her in the smaller states that held caucuses. I'm not saying he didn't win, but he didn't kick her ass by any means.

Looks like she might be ready for the Oval Office after all. She's taking a page right out of President Stupid's playbook.

    From TPM:

"I mentioned earlier that Gov. Palin is in the thick of her own very Bush era scandal over her attempts to have her ex-brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, using her clout as governor. Now we've learned she's invoked the Alaska version of executive privilege to withhold emails dealing with the case. Our report on the latest on the case will be coming up shortly."

Sounds downright Cheney-ish. Wonder if she's ever figured out how to simultaneously claim legislative privilege, like Dick did so masterfully.

As long as we're on the life-expectancy topic, what is the life expectancy for a 47-year-old heavy smoker?

Seriously ... did they not even attempt to fucking vet her?

I've already posted, what, six potentially embarrassing items that have already made it on Teh Interwebs?

Imagine what someone who's actually assigned to cover her in-depth will be able to find in a week or two.

Big shock: PUMA just endorsed Palin, maybe its because if you squint real hard and look through a beer bottle, Palin kind of looks like Hillary.

I like Palin from what I know of her, even though I disagree on all the issues, but dropping her into this slot is like Ty Tryon and Michelle Wie playing the PGA. They shouldn't have rushed it. I really think this is a dangerous pick for a couple of reasons. Unlike Quayle, she doesn't know many people in DC and they don't know her. Sure, that is a plus to an extent for the election, but other than taking meetings for McCain and the occasional funeral, what does she do in a McCain administration? I'm thinking McCain might have been keeping this hush hush from his own party as much as he is the media. She's a compelling figure, but still comes off like someone who won a reality show.
Folks should rent "The Contender" with Joan Allen and Jeff Bridges tonight. Interesting stuff.

    From the Anchorage Daily News:

The reaction wasn't so rosy elsewhere. State Senate President Lyda Green said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to tell her the news.

"She's not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president? said Green, a Republican from Palin's hometown of Wasilla. "Look at what she's done to this state. What would she do to the nation?"

Green, who has feuded with Palin, brought up the big oil tax increase Palin pushed through last year. She also pointed to the award of a $500 million state subsidy to a Canadian firm to pursue a natural gas pipeline that's far from guaranteed.

House Speaker John Harris, a Republican from Valdez, was also astonished at the news. He didn't want to get into the issue of her qualifications.

    "She's old enough," Harris said. "She's a U.S. citizen."

"This election isn't about me. It's about you" vs. "This is my husband Todd, and he's a snowmachine champion."!!!

I like Barq's, but it's a little sweet. I think Dad's is probably the best. Barq's is better than A&W though.
