I love McCain for the move. I half-wonder if he bowed to Rove and Bush on this (she was Bush's recommendation) figuring it might not go so well so he can take Lieberman or Ridge after all and tell everyone else to STFU.
It would be a shame if this doesn't work out for Palin, who I think offers an interesting contrast of someone who raised taxes on oil companies, backed a Canadian firm over Exxon and BP for a pipeline project, and is pro-life and pro-book censorship. She's interesting.

And what was McCain thinking making an argument against Obama's youth when he was considering Palin? It makes no sense.

Do you think he was really considering Palin then? Or did he freak and do this at the last second?

Not just an argument, but damn near THE argument. Obama's lack of experience, especially on foreign policy, was basically his campaign's central and most effective message. So frickin strange that they wouldn't see how this choice guts that message. Obama/Biden is now the most experienced ticket overall.

For some touting her experience as a mayor as evidence of executive skills, she was elected with a little more than 600 votes. Not a 600-vote margin. 600 votes TOTAL.

Also, she left the town with a $2 million budget deficit.

    TAX CUTTER AND SPENDER!!!

  9. Not necessarily. I truly think that she can help him win. That's what scares the shit out of me. I think it was a reckless pick for the country's sake. John McCain's motto is "Country First." Today he put John McCain first. "Country" pulled a hamstring at the starting line and earned a distant DNF.

I'm not so "out of touch," though, that I don't realize the many reasons this pick helps. It finally gets people truly excited about the GOP ticket, for one thing, though Sarah Palin is quickly becoming a celebrity in her own right, that's for sure.

I mean this as a joke, really. Well, 95 percent a joke anyway.

Would it truly, beyond the pale, shock anyone if a, um, tape showed up at some point?

  11. I seriously thought about the same exact thing today. I'm a horrible person.

  12. I do know that she was already in one movie.
