Re: GOP VP thread: So who will McCain name today?

Yeah! He appeals to people from Delaware! That one's a lock!

Or are they trying to appeal to people who watch The Office?

So the VP choice is a gimmick?

You know that he/she actually has a debate, and then has to be ready to step in to be President. Yeah, they're getting some air time and free pub -- and then what?

Considering the positive response to Palin so far, to turn around and have it be Romney would be a colossal disaster.

Masterbating? Lord, you're not even smart enough to properly launch an ad hominem attack against someone who hasn't even posted on this thread.

Something I've been wondering ... which potential running mates did McCain eliminate and which ones turned him down? Any theories?

Well, Mizzou, the Obama thing, I think, that's an overstatement. But I'm sure it's a top-10 Google image search at the moment. Wowza! There are better ones than Simon's pic.

Usually both sides circulate a list and then find out who is interested and who isn't.

I'm guessing both parties reached out to Colin Powell. I doubt either party got to the point where they offered it to someone and were told no.

    Alaska's Palin Faces Probe
    Star GOP Governor
    To Be Investigated
    For Abuse of Office
    By JIM CARLTON
    July 31, 2008; Page A4

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- When Sarah Palin was elected governor as a Republican outsider in 2006, she didn't just take on an incumbent from her own party. She took on Alaska's Republican establishment.

Ms. Palin vowed to clean up a long-cozy political system that had been sullied by an FBI corruption investigation. She endeared herself to Alaskans by making good on her reform promises and showing homey touches, like driving herself to work.

Now, one of the bright new stars in the Republican Party has suddenly become tarnished. The state legislature this week voted to hire an independent investigator to see whether Ms. Palin abused her office by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired from his job as an Alaska state trooper.
