"Finally" eroded to the point where the "cooler" guy wins? Are you kidding me? We have a bunch of voters who voted against their own interests to elect a dolt who they'd rather have a beer with.

And it will refute the idea that the credentialled guy (GWB) has any shot against the cool guy (Gore; Kerry).

Where have you been? This was proven eight years ago.

Popularity proves nothing. McDonald's is popular. That doesn't mean the food has any substance to it.

    Like Rush Limbaugh.

Who, I'm pretty certain, eats there.

As a society, we are far more smitten with the culture of celebrity now than we were eight years ago. I'd argue that Bush won despite his personality.

Zimbabwe: I'll given that one. That was good.

You mean if David Palin had only been Governor of Alaska for 20 months and his only other meaningful experience was as mayor of a tiny Alaskan town? C'mon, do you really need an answer to that? I think everyone can concede that her gender was a major component in this decision.

    Bull-SHIT.

His personality was front and center in that election. 'Compassionate Conservative' ring a bell? He was the one to restore 'honor' to the White House, remember?

If it wasn't about personality with him, what the hell was it? I'll bet those 'East Timorians' were rooting against him.

During his (mostly idiotic) campaign 16 years ago, Perot also noted that good thing are not free, and people balked.

Maybe, finally, most voters will follow through this fall and vote based on something other than individual self-interest.

Of course gender played some role.

And when gender or race plays a role from your side of the aisle, it's called affirmative action and you guys applaud.

How's this for lack of experience? Once upon a time, a man ran for president despite having one term in the House of Representatives (which ended 11 years before he ran for the nomination), eight years in the Illinois legislature and one unsuccessful campaign for the U.S. Senate.

How do you think he turned out?
