They don't need to touch her unless the brother-in-law issue proves too juicy to pass on. She undercuts McCain's experience argument.

Waylon, if a majority of this country is opposed to freedom of speech, then this country is over, and all we can do is hope that the tyranny that results does not destroy too much of the world before the world destroys us in self-defense.
I know that sounds extreme. Almost as extreme as a President with PTSD and anger management issues.

  4. Here's the proof. And I imagine that the numbers are even higher in the moderate swing states that are important in this election.

    Among the key findings:

    • For the first time in our polling, almost half of those surveyed said they think the First Amendment goes too far in the rights it guarantees. About 49 percent said it gives us too much freedom, up from 39 percent last year and 22 percent in the year 2000.

    • The least popular First Amendment right is freedom of the press, with 42 percent saying the press in America has too much freedom, roughly the same level as last year.

In the past, the results have been fairly consistent, if a bit disquieting. Each year, a majority of Americans have said they would restrict public remarks that might offend people of other faiths or races. About half of those surveyed have said they would restrict the public display of potentially offensive art. Almost four Americans in 10 have told us they would limit the public performance of music that might offend others.

Teaching the populace how to be stupid . . . a GOP byword, for the past forty years.

Just watched intro speech again with a more critical eye. It's not bad but a little too "mayoral " and way too much "I" "I" "I".

She is going to have to start speaking in global terms real fast.

A country without mirrors. Eighty percent of Americans think we're on the wrong track, and none of them think it has anything to do with them. People aren't stupid, but the simple statistics of our horrific voting rates indicate most folks are too lazy, uninformed, gullible, selfish, and cowardly to handle the admittedly difficult responsibilities of citizenship in a constitutional democracy.

I'll readily admit that in comparison with Harriet Miers, Palin looks super.

    Spot on.

    Shit is nuts.

Ultimate reality television, even for the unenthused.

LJB, in keeping with that theme, it will be interesting to see the Republican convention ratings. Obama got a huge audience in part because he has a reputation as a good show. It would be embarrassing, to say the least, if Palin's night got higher ratings than McCain's because people tuned in out of curiosity.

Because she decided not to abort the baby, America is suddenly going to become a country that doesn't want to allow women to have reproductive rights?

    You are bat-shit crazy.

What the fuck do you care? He could have met with her daily for a month, vetted her with the IRS, FBI and CIA and found out that she cured cancer in her spare time and you still would ridicule the pick.
