That would all be very interesting if Gov. Palin was actually running against Sen. Clinton for anything ... which she's not.

You asshole. I care because she has a chance to be President of the United States.

If McCain were to win and then die in February of 2009, she is running the country. A woman with no views on anything except for oil drilling, abortion, creationism and censorship of books.

Historically, the idea that the VP choice was somebody who had to be "ready to govern" is very new. Until, I think Ronald Reagan, it was ASSUMED that the purpose of the VP was to help get the P elected.
How Palin will perform in that function is anybody's guess. At this point, 47 pages of guessing.

Karl Rove believes that picking a first-term governor and ex-mayor of a small town is a very, very bad idea -- when there is a possibility that the Democrat will do it:

In a related note, the thread from last week, where the righties were apoplectic as how Democrats were overlooking or dismissing Joe Biden's warts is making for some hilarious reading right now.

People will watch just for the new eye candy. Heard young people talking about this very aspect yesterday. I swore I would not watch it myself, but that will be changing. The theater is too absurd.

The idea that a V.P. choice be ready to govern may be new, but it is far more serious in the case when a 72 year old, four time cancer survivor is at the top of the ticket

I already heard her public speaking voice. A second taste is not to my taste. With luck, the political blogs will continue to post the text of the speeches beforehand so I don't have to hear her again.

And in two months, she goes back to the set of Northern Exposure.

I think I like her, but not her politics.
I think she's earnest, but not overly smart.
I'd rather have her as President than Cheney or Bush, but that's not saying much.
Given McCain's age and health and the crazies aiming for Obama, the VP selections may seriously be as important as any of the candidates' positions.

I was for Obama before the convention and nothing's changed yet. If McCain resigns from the campaign and Palin becomes the nominee, I'll reconsider by position.

    Why?

But according to you people, McCain has no chance. Obama is the annointed one. The Election is just a formality.
    Isn't it?
