I like Klosterman, but I gave up on his NFL HOF story less than halfway through because it was taking too long to make a point.

Klosterman tries to give too many lessons in Psych 101.

Grantland has arrived. Jones has perhaps the best story yet to appear in Grantland on Barry Zitto.

Type of story I think we all expected from the start.

That was a good Zito story. Nice work by Jones...

I just want to read something by Katie Baker that doesn't make me utter "What the Fuck?"

I had not seen that YouTube video of Keith Richards swinging his axe at some guy who jumped on stage while they were churning through "Satisfaction" (looks like it was the Tattoo You tour, I saw the stop in Buffalo). That's great stuff, Keef whales on the guy while Mick looks momentarily distracted and then Keef puts his guitar back on doesn't miss a beat.

Man is a fucking God. His book is highly, highly recommended as well.

A screen play was so money in that game, if I recall correctly.

I had an issue with the Zito story because it offered no skepticism at all to the Boras presentation. The closest thing was to say that Barry Zito was not quite as good at the beginning of his career as Greg Maddux. It's like Jones really believed Zito, who had for his final three seasons in Oakland been clearly trending downward, was bound for the Hall of Fame. He wasn't. He was a good pitcher in a pitcher's park who peaked early and was on the wrong side of his prime. The deal was stupid and heavily criticized at the time.

Give me Rany Jazayerli and Michael Weinreb, who had another nice read on Bubba Smith: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/1306/remembering-bubba-smith

Boras mad Zito a shitton of money. What was Boras supposed to do? Clean his house?

I like the Boras stuff. I felt that was the best part of the story.

Deadlines have never been his forte. He's been known to record two-hour NBA draft preview podcasts that go up on iTunes three hours before the draft.
