Funny, because I grew up in a place that had this thing "downtown."

Larry Cathey has accepted an offer to work at the Grants Pass Daily Courier.

Larry, who works in Paris, Texas, will start in three weeks. He will be a great addition.

    Thanks, Lance.

I know just about everyone here will say, "Who the [expletive] is Larry Cathey?" Most of you would know me from my SportsJournalists.com handle, though. Even then, you'd say, "How the [expletive] did that [expletive] get that [expletive] job?"

Anyway, my move creates another opening in Paris, Texas. It's a two-man sports section with about a 10,000 daily circ. -- 12,000 on Sundays. No Saturday paper.

No job description has been created in the 10 minutes since I informed my boss, but it's safe to say he's going to move quickly. PM me for info on the city, paper, job...whatever.

    The SE is Van Hilburn.

He can be reached at (903) 785-8744 ext. 274.

Because time is of the essence, he'd prefer e-mails, but whatever works for you.

    Larry,

I'd offer you my apartment if you want to live in Medford and commute. But the way gas prices are these days, maybe not.

Don't know if you're single or married, but if you're single, beware of a certain female in GP with the well-earned reputation of heartbreaker.
