It's hot and humid here, so the temperature didn't really noticeably drop. And it got dark, but I don't think it was midnight dark -- although it could have been because I was mesmerized enough by the totality that I really didn't look around.

Well, sure, if I could've watched it in a football stadium, it would've been cool ... ;)

Clouds rolled in about 5-10 minutes before totality here in the Kansas City Northland. Really, really bummed. The sudden darkness was eery, and I could see the lights of four airplanes stacked up well in the distance to the northeast as they approached KCI. But I know I missed something special by the slimmest of margins -- live TV coverage from Liberty, about 15 miles east, showed a mostly unobstructed view.

    Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

The best view for me was one I found by accident. I watched the reflection of the eclipse on the windshield of my car. I'd made a pinhole viewer and it was nice and the shadows were fun, but the diamond ring effect was the most spectacular part.

Dixie, you said earlier you're not an outdoor type, and yet I see you had shorts and a jaunty outdoorsman hat to go with your flag. Congrats on your patriotic ensemble.

Count me in on the Midnight Sun up in Alaska.
I think that would be a trip.

I'd rather do St. Petersburg or Stockholm.
