Great Songs (underrated and long-forgotten category)

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by deadliner, Feb 8, 2007.

  1. Daddy Rollin' (in Your Arms) -- Dion (flip of Abraham, Martin and John.)
Oh, and The Who cut is "I'm A Boy," and is indeed, great and underrated,as are Entwistle's "Heaven And Hell," "Whiskey Man," and "My Wife."

Au contraire, mon frere. "When I Was a Boy" is a rarity cut in 1969 and never released as a single. It appears on the CD 'Who's Missing', released in 1987. Ironically, it is a John Entwistle song.

Trust me, I'm well-aware of "I'm a Boy," the famous song released in 1965.

If we're working the Who here, can I throw in "A Quick One (While He's Away). Perhaps not forgotten, but an awesome, awesome tune.

"Riding With the King" John Hiatt 1983 original - not the EC cover.
    "Texas" Chris Rhea.
"TV Dinners" ZZ Top. I like it. Have at me. My skin is turning green
"Fat man in the Bathtub" Little Feat.

The last song the Rolling Stones recorded for Decca. Ok, not great, but long-forgotten.

    "Chesnut Mare," the Byrds.

"Time won't let me," the Outsiders.

"Catch us if you can," Dave Clark 5.

"White Bird," It's a Beautiful Day.

"Come on down to my boat baby," Every Mother's Son.

"The New Lee Highway Blues," David Bromberg.

    "Albert Flasher," The Guess Who.

    "Streetlights," Bonnie Raitt.

    "Hello in There," John Prine.

Just a few closet classics from the Micro Man's stax of wax.

  7. The version from the Stones Rock and Roll Circus is my favorite. ("You are ALL forgiven!" says Pete, and we are.)
keef -- I'm sorry, I had a vaporlock on the Entwistle song, which I somehow knew under another title. You're right. It isa good 'un.

It's Alright... J.J. Jackson, I believe. Love that song. And good call on Last Goodbye.

Is Don't Answer Me the one for which they made an animated video? That's one of my all-time favorite clips.

And I'm going to assume "There Is No God" is off Extreme's fourth album, which I never got. Big fan of their first three albums. though III Sides plodded a bit. I'll see your song and raise you "Watching, Waiting" and "Rock a Bye Bye," off their first album...which has to be the only hard rock album in history with songs about the crucifixation and an abortion.
