and Mrs. Petty cringes every time I crank up the stereo and both the little Heartbreakers and I belt out JC's Sunday Morning Coming Down word for word.

Not going to read through 14 pages to see if these have been mentioned, so here is my contribution:

I'll Fix Your Flat Tire Merle — Pure Prairie League

30,000 Pounds of Bananas — Harry Chapin

Holy crap, At A Medium Pace is a funny fuckin song.

But I think you're wrong on November Rain. It hit no. 3, if I recall correctly, and is viewed as the last great rock single. It's probably G-n-R's most lasting work, at least commercially speaking. And it's as if Slash is burying the guitar solo with those epic licks.

Tumblewood Connection and Honky Chateau are excellent as well. He put out some outstanding music back in the day.

And yes, there was a previous mention of PPL's "Merle."

One missing classic thus far: "Handbags and Gladrags" from Rod Stewart's Gasoline Alley.

And "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty is a classic pop song, as is "Cruel to be Kind" by Nick Lowe and "From Small Things Mama (Big things one day come)" by Dave Edmunds, a great Springsteen cover. The DE 7th album that song appeared on is outstanding.

Now pull on my scrotum and take the shampoo bottle... Outta my ass!

And micro, please tell me you didn't reference Rod Stewart's Handbags and Gladrags in a positive manner.

One of my top five favorite songs of all-time. That sax/guitar interlude is unforgettable.

Hey what can I say, I like the song.
It's not as good as "I wish I knew ..." by the Small Faces, but it's not bad. I like almost all of Rod Stewart's old stuff.

That's one of the best Springsteen covers ever. I'd never heard Bruce's version until it showed up on the third disc of his Essential set and it kicks some ass too.
