To touch upon Benny Mardones for a moment (who is performing at a Holiday Inn near you tonight):

    she's just sixteen years old
    leave her alone, they say,
    separated by fools
who don't know what love is yet
but i want you to know

    if i could fly
    i'd pick you up
i'd take you into the night
    and show you a love
like you've never seen - ever seen

Great song, but ... wow. The PC police would have locked him up and thrown away the key today.

"Re-emerged a star in Syracuse, New York."

I got lost in Syracuse one night, and to keep from going batshit insane I listened to the Grateful Dead's Eyes of the World with Branford Marsalis. Two hours I drove around looking for the Knights Inn, and I was only a mile away the whole time.

I HAD to buy the soundtrack album just because of that song. But then there also was a ton of other great songs on that soundtrack, which I have since bought again on CD.

Speaking of Crowded House, how about some love for its predecessor ... Split Enz?

    "I Got You."

Actually, the Songbird soundtrack had some really good stuff on it. If I could find it on CD I'd buy it in a second.

A song they don't play nearly enough on the radio ...

    Buffalo Stance by Neneh Cherry

This is what I love about music...
I'm a huge Bad Company fan, but "Fade Away" just never stood out to me. Yet it's one of your faves.

And it always surprised me how many great songs they had...and their greatest hits effort was freakin' '10 from 6.' They kept out a ton of great stuff, "Wildfire Woman" and "Good Lovin' Gone Bad" among the best.
