For the sake of perspective, I believe there are 16 catchers in the Hall of Fame. I don't see how you can be top 15-20 but "nowhere near a HOF-caliber player."

What the fuck does this have to do with baseball catchers?

    Take your Hillary love elsewhere.

    No Hillary fan, here . . . but you're right . . . somehow misposted that, here.
    Mea culpa.

Somebody else did that today too. The internets must be running out of space faster than we thought.

Stan Marsh needs to unplug it and plug it back in again.

  6. Casty - it would be very hard to argue with any of your choices.

Schmidt is the best 3rd baseman BTW - no doubt in my mind.

Who would you have as closer?

I think I'd go for williams over Hank Aaron, and Koufax as my lefty starter.

Great stuff Casty,! Thank you. - had to argue with your list. I might have been torn on Ted Williams and Joe D. Glad you have Warren Spahn on your list. He never seems to get his due.

Understand it more modern day but who would you have as your closer?

If list was based on defense would you pick Brooks Robinson over Schmidt? Ozzie Smith over Wagner?

Yes, perhaps on namesake alone. Then add a HOF playing career. And managing.

Ozzie Smith was fortunate he played on that pool table.

    That is all.

That barehanded grab he made on that bad hop when he was with the Padres is the greatest play I've ever seen. What park was that in?

  12. Tom Petty

campy started playing in the negro leagues in 1937.

his first mlb season was 1948. he also didn't choose to retire.
