Three words: "Damn, Damn, DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!" --

The episode before also had a stunning ending, with the big reveal that James had been killed in an auto accident, I believe.

Easily one of the 5 most traumatic moments of my elementary school career.

Was he the one shot in the liquor store?

If so, yes, I agree: One of the most traumatic moments of my preschool career. :D

You know what's weird? I'm obviously on record as one of the board's biggest Wire-o-philes, but I really dislike that scene. I think Bunk's rant is really overcooked and seems a little out of character. I suppose it gives him some depth, but I don't really like the "it makes me sick how far we done fell" line. For whatever reason, it just doesn't seem genuine to me.

Much like Freaks and Geeks, the finale scene in The Black Donnellys pilot is a bit of a lost opportunity.

But a great moment of television, nonetheless:

"To this day, it's the one thing I never told anybody ... I'm ashamed to be telling ya now ..."

Junior Bunk goes out on Homicide, ending - of course - with the phone:

That reminds me of the climactic scene from that TV miniseries about 15 years ago, "Lace." Starring Phoebe Cates, who uttered the memorable line:

"Which one of you bitches is my mother?"

Just to reiterate this point. The Wonder Years has always been one of my favorite shows, and that series finale pretty much brings me to tears on so many levels, especially the Kevin-Winnie scene in the barn. Great, great moment.
