Since Mr. Friend O' brought up the CHUM chart, I'll throw out another one that should bring back memories for Canucks of a certain vintage: Definition

Actually, on the pilot show, all three of the Cartwright Sons (Adam/Pernell Roberts left after a few years) sang the lyrics to the song. Michael Landon showed that as for laughs, and I don't think the words were ever heard again.

I voted for Hawaii 5-0, but I like the theme song from F Troop - it is really funny.

Another notable omission that should be on the list: The theme song from that Happy Days spin-off, Laverne & Shirley. It was a catchy tune that I believe was wildly popular on the radio airwaves way back when. Remember?

    "A hero who sneezed
    Abruptly seized
retreat and reversed it to vic- tory"

I can do the rest of it, but I'm thinking maybe the idea here is that other people continue it.

Surprised "St. Elsewhere" wasn't on the list.

Dave Grusin did a really good rendition of that one.

Oh yeah, I voted for Quincy Jones.

"Fred G. Sanford, and the G is for Gefiltafish (sp)"

Don't have a problem with Hawaii Five-O leading the pack.

A medal of honor pleased his proud little family group
When pinning it on, some blood was spilled
    And so it was planned
    He'd command ... F-TROOP

    Where Indian fights
    Are Colorful sights
    And Nobody takes a lickin'
    Where paleface and redskin
    Both turn chicken

Where drilling and fighting get them down
They know their morale can droop
As long as they all relax in town
    Before they resume
With a bang and a boom...
    F-TROOP

    other fact about F-Troop.

It was on for two seasons. One was in black-and-white, and the other was in color.

Yes, I'll admit I looked these up. Both are good, as Jesus and Gold asserted, although I still don't think quite as good as the Dallas instrumental them I noted earlier.

(This thread has been fun. I've gone back and listened to most of the themes in the poll and mentioned, either for old times' sake, just to hear them again, or because I didn't know or remember them).

So, for everyone's enjoyment, here's the St. Elsewhere theme:

And, the F-Troop theme, first with words, and then without:

On the other hand, DO have a problem with "Cheers" leading the pack.

    (Ugh.)

Of course I didn't like the show, so maybe that's why.

Night Court was much, much better. And not a bad theme song, either.
