    My good man, Good Doc.

I love her more than Anna Kournikova, more than the Olsen Twins, more than Amanda Heard, more than Cheryl Hines (but not more than Meg White).

Good good job. That look in her eyes ... that look in her eyes ... she's good for all the wrong reasons.

    Gracias.

Maybe we could have a "Remember sportspages.com Day" and everyone could just post as Anon. 3:12, etc.

That would be a trip down memory lane.

I posted this in my 3,000 thread, but here's what I have to say about it...

3,000 posts. Wow. That went by in an instant. This board has provided me more than I could have wanted.

It has allowed me a chance for rejuvenation after several mistakes on my part. And for that, I thank you.

This board got me my first professional writing job, freelancing for an NCAA tournament. And for that, I thank you.

This board helped me land my first lengthy professional writing job in a beautiful part of the country with a great first editor. And for that, I thank you.

This board grabbed my ass out of the first full-time non-writing job I had out of college. I knew that I didn't want to be a paper-pusher for some corporation, but the money seemed right and I stayed. It slowly hit me that, no matter the money, I couldn't stay with something that I am unhappy. We decided to part ways and this board helped me stay on the up-and-up. And for that, I thank you.

It gave me an opportunity to meet some of the quirkiest, but most interesting people with whom I would have the pleasure of coming in contact. And for that, I thank you.

Those same people gave me an opportunity to explore New York City through a different set of eyes and to test foreign waters. And for that, I thank you.

This board let me have an opportunity to cover a Major League Baseball game as a youngster, with many of the players in the clubhouse, my own age. I learned from that experience, and implemented several of those lessons in my mind. And for that, I thank you.

This board helped me land my first full-time writing gig at a place not far from my first professional experience. I am growing as a writer and as a person on my own. And for that, I thank you.

This board has helped me grow as a writer and even though it's hard to tell, as a person as well. I have branched out and done things that I probably would have done anyway, but I had people to help me along the way. I hope to see many of you in the future either in the press box or in the clubhouse. That is why they call it the future; you don't know what will happen.

And for that, I thank you.

Great thread. This place has frustrated the hell out of me at times... But has been a godsend the last few years, as my work has shifted from on-the-run and around people all the time, to a lot of alone time staring at a computer and a phone. I have this great group of friends because of this site, many still anonymous even though I know them better than some less virtual friends. I have met some of the smartest, wittiest, thought-provoking people I could hope to meet anywhere on here. I have been informed and challenged because of this site. I don't want to make a comprehensive list names, because I will leave out at least a dozen people I know and love and have met because of this place, but over time, 21, who started this thread has been as good a friend, and as genuine a person, as I could hope to ever come across under any circumstances. Webby has my thanks for putting up with the BS and fostering the site's growth. And Moddy may be a grumpy old bastard (who has invented more ways to shun me than a weasel hiding in a hole), but I love the guy and think he is funny and self-deprecating to a fault. He would make King Solomon blush with his sound, common-sense judgments about people and things.

Yeah, my anniversary isn't until tomorrow. October 10, 2002, 09:03:48 AM.

So out of five years, I've spent just more than 1/3 of a year on here. That's only 1/15 of the entire time! Man, I don't know what you guys think when you say I'm always on here...

    (Thanks, Webby)

You rock Xan! Made my day once again!

They should anoint you King of the Castle for this...

(Lionel should really close that shirt up though....yuck!) Maybe needed the extra fabric for his tight ass white pants.

I forgot to add a thanks to IJAG for coordinating the Secret Santa. I've received two awesome gifts the last two years.

As for King of the Castle, Cansportschick ... I'm ore of the court jester without the humor. Remember, boys who see Christmas lights for the first time, every time, rarely make people laugh. But we can dream, right?

I came for the quality -- but I stayed for the low, low prices.

It looks like 2 1/4 pages of people registered on Oct. 9, 2002, but most of those people have no posts.
