It's become just another Sunday. Was a big deal when I was a kid. Early morning Mass, 90-minute drive to the ocean town for dinner on dad's side of the family (40 to 50 or so). Lots of stores closed. Today, went to my sister's for a late lunch, hung with cousins, nieces and nephews. Drove home and many places were open, except the In-N-Out.

Definitely not just another Sunday to me. In fact, as the years have passed, I've found Good Friday/Easter to be less and less just another Sunday, or weekend. I think about it and find myself in awe of its meaning. It stays with me all week, gives me plenty of pause for thought, and I take more time for prayer and appreciation of it.

I had actually been scheduled to work all day today, but asked, last-minute (like, Friday) if I could just work a four-hour shift instead, and my supervisor and store manager were amenable, much to my surprise but deep gratitude. Good Friday, indeed.
