Have the Mainstream Media Ignored Our Heroes?

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Evil Bastard (aka Chris_L), Jun 19, 2006.

  1. You said that the Army lied to cover it up when in truth the Army investigated (as they do in all deaths) and released the truth. It was through their investigation that the truth was revealed to the world.

You paint the negative about the military - just as the MSM does - getting back to the original point of the thread.

Anyone ever hear about Brian Chontosh? Google his name and ask yourself why he is not as well known in our country as he should be. Ask yourself why YOU have never heard about him.

Have you ever heard of Jesse Knobloch?

    I'll hold my breath.

    Mr.Merloni,

So what you're saying now, is that the elitist, liberal, pinko, homo, flag-burning MSM stories about America's brave heroes indeed exist, but that they arrive on a schedule insufficient to your patriotic needs. This was not the premise of dear dead Cap's crappy piece, nor the original intent of this thread - the one you posted to slander those of us who actually work as journalists.

As to the coverage of the Pope and the number of column inches which one in the news business might devote to it, there's a news judgment test thread over on the Journalism board you'll want to avoid.

Lastly, it is a different kind of slander altogether to compare the death of a Medal of Honor winner - our nation's HIGHEST MILITARY HONOR [sic] - to the NFL draft.

You, sir, are a perfect chucklehead. When the great reckoning comes, and it will, the blood of these heroes you so admire and so dishonor with your ignorance will be on your hands.

    Oh, and it's 'i' before 'e', except after 'c'.

Oh, and one last quick question:

If we're in the "mainstream," where does that put you?

  5. Where does that put me? Well I'm an Independent who votes Republican - so I guess that puts me in the majority.

How are those circulation numbers or ratings going for you?

Just say you're a Republican. Because it's what you are. It's so you.

So what you're saying is that independents and Republicans are a majority, and that the majority is out of the "mainstream." Interesting.

As to both your answer and your subsequent question, I can only say, "huh?"

How's that blog treating YOU, Lou?

  9. I think many of you are stuck in a mindset that doesn't allow George Bush (or Republicans in general) to be correct in their actions or thinking no matter what they say or do or accomplish. I truly believe that Karl Rove could save a baby from a burning house and some of you would react by saying, "Yes it was great of him to save that baby but...."

To be fair - I'm sure many of you view me (and others on this board who are centrists) as closed minded cool-aid drinkers.

No amount of argument will really change anything. Oh - some of you engage in genuine debate but others just start in with the insults (which really reflects more on the person hurling the invective than anything else). The bottom line though is that it really won't change anyone's mind and its really not worth it.

I find these political threads just turn me sour and take too much time. I'd rather be more happy and more productive. So I'm going on political thread sabbatical.

I also have to admit openly that some of what I've written was just geared to cheese off Fenian Bastard. :-*

So goodbye political bickering and hello disco biscuits (at least for now).

Not to change the subject here, but why is it that some people seem to believe that those on the extreme right are closer to what middle America believes than those on the left, extreme or otherwise?

  11. Small potatoes - the centrists crack was just a joke.

I wasn't really talking about that, just more of a general impression I get listening to some members of right-wing talk radio, which probably explains why I get that impression.
