Eli's replacement was in on the casino robbery? I must've missed that part.

Halloran (?) had to have been. He was a little too interested in making sure Eli was making the collection there himself while Nucky was in Chicago and the usual collector needed time off for his daughter's surgery. The perps were lying in wait for him.

I found it interesting that it's setting up for Nucky's closest people to be conspiring against him.

What did the maid give to Nucky when he handed her the cash? Was it a bible? I assume there was something written in there.

I still don't buy that Gillian wasn't involved in the poison plot.

Interestingly enough, Sunday was the 77th anniversary of the ratification of the 21st amendment, which repealed Prohibition.

Rite of passage for "Empire" last night, with its homage/takeoff of the "Corleone Family settles all accounts" sequence.

Sepinwall has an interview with Winter up and he clarifies the poisoning...

There was a lot of speculation last week, and I appear to have gotten it wrong: was the maid acting entirely alone in poisoning the Commodore, or was Gillian involved in some way?

Maid was acting entirely alone. It is exactly what she said: she couldn't take any more of his abuse. Gillian, that was kind of a mislead, she never said anything when he said he found the poison, we just went out on her look. A lot of people assumed it was her, but that was never our intention.

Looks like HBO is closing out its current miniseries roster:

"Big Love" teasers for the run beginning in January are now labeled "The Final Season," and last night's season finale of "In Treatment" came off much more like a series finale, although I don't think it's been made official.

Big Love should have been shut down two seasons ago.
