HBO's Boardwalk Empire

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Steak Snabler, Sep 20, 2010.

  1. that's a great point. You can tell that Jimmy didn't want his relationship with Nucky to turn badly the way it has.

Jimmy's mother is a gorgeous woman. But she's despicable as a person, which takes away from the physical attraction......well...no it doesn't

I could see Jimmy being blamed for the double-murder. Not held responsible. Fingered for pulling the trigger (by his associates; the legal implications will be peripheral/not matter).

Could Manny's colder-than-a-polar-bear's-toenails line, "Your husband did this to you" be telegraphing such an outcome?

And what would the implications be for Jimmy, vis-a-vis Richard Harrow if that is the case?

My guess is, even if I'm wrong with this theory, this event drives a fatal wedge between Harrow and Darmody. Harrow will hold Jimmy responsible, regardless.

The only person Nucky can trust now also has a reason to have murderous thoughts about him. (Margaret, who is falling into a crisis of self-loathing the tip of which we've only glimpsed).

Having had HBO for the last six days in my hotel room, Boardwalk Empire is the only original HBO show that brings the goods. Real good shit.

The rest I saw are average to bad.

Oh, and right now? I'm sure some boxing 24/7 is on. If not, it'll be on shortly. HBO is light years better than Showtime, but there is so much original filler on HBO these days (as opposed to the cinematic filler it aired in the past).

Well, yes. Though the idiotic boxing 24/7's come close.

I bet you are on to something -- why else would the last scene show Jimmy, alone, driving into Princetown? Where's Harrow? He's not with Jimmy because he's going to discover the bodies, slumped over like they were caught by an angry husband in a lover's embrace.

Jimmy dropped out of Princeton to join the Army. Not sure what his going there means, but it was something he needed to do alone.

He was taking his share of the whiskey to sell...he mentioned it earlier in the show that he'd take us "up north."

Alliances dissolve. Powerful people, whose power derived from those alliances, are eviscerated. <----- A, if not THE, central theme of Boardwalk Empire.

    Nucky/Jimmy (hell, Nucky/everyone, eventually)
    Jimmy/Commodore
    Jimmy/Angela
    Jimmy/everyone <----- trending
"New" protege gangsters/Their "old gangster" mentors

Harrow/Darmody could become a flashpoint for that dynamic.

And ultimately, Margaret is the one to watch. She is closest to Nucky.

Jimmy was creating the first official drunken campus Frat Party, obviously.
